Procedures upon arrival
Before any prisoners can be accepted to these camps, Mandatory procedures had to be done.
Clothing and valuables was stripped from head to toe, In-exchange for a striped uniform. The prisoners then received a card number. This card represents the numbers that he or she will need later for the registration process. The barbershop was where everybody was shaved completely. Once all of this was completed, all that was left was completing a registration form and getting a tattoo.
The tattoos consisted of numbers and a symbol, both considered to be unique only to that prisoner. The numbers came from the card number from earlier and the symbols came from whatever background you were.
After all of this you were now considered a prisoner by the Nazis.
